The Lakeland Ledger reported today that local governments have issued 300 new building permits in Polk County for single family residences. This is said to be the highest monthly amount in the 10 years. It is a 29% increase over last year's September building permit count. The area of greatest growth seems to be in northeast Polk County which is influenced by the expansion of the Orlando market. The area includes Haines City and Davenport.
The article went on to say that actual new construction starts in September grew 12% over 2014. The growth in permits and actual new construction starts are indications that the local real estate market is coming back after the very painful period of 2008 to 2012.
